Meet the Center for LGBTQ Economic Advancement & Research’s team of finance, policy, and legal advocates:
Oliver is the Center for LGBTQ Economic Advancement & Research’s 2020 Summer Intern. Oliver is a fourth-year student at UC Berkeley where he studies Economics and LGBT Studies. In 2019, he worked alongside a post-doctoral student to map the history of Gilead’s Truvada for PrEP, including market violations and patent infringements. Since 2017, Oliver has volunteered at the Berkeley Free Clinic, a division of the Gay Men’s Health Clinic.
Spencer Watson, J.D.
Spencer is the Founder and Executive Director of CLEAR. Spencer is a May 2018 graduate of Berkeley Law, where their studies emphasized consumer financial protection, prudential regulation, lending discrimination, and civil rights. In 2017, Spencer interned at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Office of Fair Lending, and at Consumer’s Union. Before law school, Spencer worked in various non-profits, including as a counselor offering financial and credit education to clients.
